27 Feb How do you Know if you Have OSA?
Obstructive Sleep Apnea is the fastest growing medical condition in the U.S. with 20% of affected population. 1 in 5 adults has OSA but 80%of these people think they are fine.
I know because I am one of them. Maybe I snored a little but I could roll out of bed pretty easily and didn’t get tired during the day. It was not until I did a home sleep study test that I found out I had mild sleep apnea.
For men the most common symptoms are snoring, daytime sleepiness and waking up feeling unrefreshed. For women it is more of a general feeling of fatigue, more than one trip to the bathroom at night and feelings of depression. While these are the most common symptoms, many people with OSA exhibit none of the obvious ones.
If you have symptoms of fever and cough how will you know if you have COVID unless you test for it? So how do you know if you have OSA? Well you don’t unless you get tested. And we at KC Sleep Health would like to help you get tested and on the path to a better night’ sleep and a healthier life.
